An unusual Victorian Full Dress Tunic buttoned to Princess Victoria's (Royal Irish Fusiliers) and dating to the 1800's.
This one is quite rare as I've been unable to trace an example of the Regiment wearing this style.

The stable jacket / tunic had the buttons of the 87th (Royal Irish Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot. The button has the Napoleonic eagle with "8" on the base for the 8th Regiment de Ligne when they captured their standard at the Battle of Barrossa.

The back stamp was for Firmins of London and very clearly English. I think the bottom 3-4 had been lost and replaced with some french gendarme buttons.
Think I also stated in the description that I couldn't find a similar example. It has more of a look of an Hussars tunic but there wasn't a main Regiment that had green facings. There were numerous Volunteer/ Yeomanry Hussars but again I couldn't match the design.

The tunic is quite light which suggests an overseas posting and the 87 during the mid Victorian period were posted to, Mauritius, India, Hong Kong, Malta, Gibraltar & the Caribbean. It Could be an NCOs tunic
