Original English Ink and Watercolor Cartoon Drawing Dated 1800.

DISCUSSION:

A very accomplished pen and watercolor cartoon showing a recruiting sergeant promising two vagabonds a chance at fortune if they enlist, as a pair of fife and drum boys looks on dubiously. Dated 1800. Lower left corner torn off, but several similar pieces we obtained from the same collection were signed H. Knight and Hy Knight in the lower left corner.

Single sheet. About 6.5”x5”. Some soil and wear, folds.
