This is a fine World War II U.S. Navy Submarine Warfare Officer’s Badge that remains in excellent condition. It exhibits nice detail to the dolphins, boat, and waves at the bottom of the badge. The dolphin’s scales are distinctive to the GEMSCO manufactured badges, and the tail fins are cut out. The gilt finish is intact and with an attractive age toned patina. The reverse is solid and retains the functional pin and roller locking catch. It is marked, ‘GEMSCO – STERLING’ at the base of the waves. The badge measures 2¾ inches from end to end and remains a fine-looking example as awarded to officers of Silent Service during the Second World War.
