Rare 1890's Era Antique Electric Motor, was it to run a Fan, Store Display, was it a Sample? Edison Type. The motor is mainly cast iron with 2 brass ends and a wooden top. This motor has adjustable brushes. The brush holders are brass. The wooden base has an extra set of holes for the motor and the porcelain on/off switch, looking as though they could be repositioned for another purpose.  (Porcelain switch marked G.E. Co.)  The brass end supporting the center shaft, beyond the pulley, attaches to the wooden base. It looks like it was either modified or repaired years ago. (The blue paint is all the same.) The base has 4 holes drilled in each corner in order to attach it to another surface. The base measures 10" L x 5" W x approximately 5" H. On the top of the motor there is a wooden piece where the 2 wires feed and connect from the brushes to the terminals horizontally through the wood.  Please see the photo where I removed the wooden top to show the armature. ***see photos*** The motor has not been tested. Very unusual looking, what was this motor made to be used for? Could it have run a store window display? Was it a early electric toy motor? I would appreciate any information.
