Denso Iridium TT

Denso's revolutionary 'Twin-Tip' technology delivers far less obstruction to the flame's growth, allowing an omni-directional explosion. The unique design incorporates a 0.4-millimeter Iridium centre electrode, and a 0.7-millimeter Platinum ground electrode. This minimizes the quenching effect and results in a more effective, more complete combustion.

Traditional nickel spark plugs feature two flat surfaces, which effectively block the ability for the flame to grow in all different dimensions. But DENSO’s Iridium TT’s two needle-thin electrodes (with the centre electrode 0.2mm smaller than the nearest rival) act as thin 'lighting rods' or 'conductors’, allowing the spark to grow to its full range of 360 degrees in all 3 dimensions.

This improves the ability of the air and fuel mix to ignite and, in-turn, allows the spark to expand quicker, optimising both fuel economy and performance.

DENSO’s cutting-edge technology has created a unique iridium rhodium alloy with the highest iridium ratio in the market for the centre electrode, as well as a bespoke platinum alloy for the ground electrode. This allows an extended lifespan of up to a staggering 75,000 miles!

Installation

WARNING - DO NOT USE COPPER GREASE (AKA COPPER SLIP, ANTI-SEIZE, THREAD COMPOUND) ON MODERN SPARK PLUG THREADS!

  • Using such lubricants can result in over-torqued values with a torque-wrench by up to 20 percent! Possibly causing major damage.
  • Virtually all modern spark plugs feature a special zinc-chromate shell plating which provides corrosion resistance to the elements.
  • Spark plugs should be torqued/tightened down with a dry thread only.
  • On spark plugs that feature a crush-able base gasket washer, be prepared for tightening to feel odd in the last stages as it's being crushed.
  • Follow the instructions on the box that show you to finger tighten first and then rotate the amount shown afterwards with a wrench.
  • Only use a spark plug gapping tool which pulls on the ground electrodes neck to adjust the gap on precious metal spark plugs.
  • The only time anti-seize compound should be used is on vintage spark plugs that have a non-coated, usually black surface.
