NOTE: This is a new improved version 2B of this kit. Version 2B uses a larger diameter thumbscrew head with a shoulder to offset it from the rack ear surface. This makes it easier to grip and turn the thumbscrew. In addition, the head has a combination of Phillips and slotted head to allow the use of both a Phillips or flat head screw driver. Version 2B is also has slightly shorter threads than the version "2" so that it can be secured quicker

Do you have a Supermicro rack mount server that wants to slide forward every time you try to plug-in a power supply or power cord or other cables in the back? Supermicro rack mount servers have rack ears that do not have any latching mechanism, and you're suppose to use a M5 threaded screw to secure the rack mount ears to the rack rails. So, I put together this kit, which uses a thumb screw to make it easier to tighten and loosen with just your fingers. It also comes with a nylon washer to prevent scratching. I then secure this screw to the rack ear holes with a starlock washer which makes it easier to align the screw as well as prevents the screw from dropping or getting lost when you are loosening it to pull the server out of the rack.

These are not original Supermicro parts, but a custom kit that I put together from components I sourced. Since I've built many servers with Supermicro parts, I put this kit together for my servers, but I thought I should make it available for other server enthusiasts that also use Supermicro server parts.

I show how to use these screws in a video on my YouTube channel. Look up "Art of Server" on YouTube and you should be able to find my channel. (sorry, eBay policy does not allow external URL links)

Please feel free to ask any questions. Thanks for looking! :-)
