Latex Tubing is cut at 3/8 inch length 1/4 inch OD 1/8 inch ID, same as used by Fender in original Vintage Pre CBS Instruments from 1950 to 1964, was then phased out for metal conical springs for a while, and later re-introduced as  the preferred method for pickup mounting spring compression, avoiding the undesired micro-phonic tendencies associated with the metal springs.
