These vintage John Bull magazines are a wonderful resource of post-war Britain - giving insight to contemporary thought and ideas. The illustrations, in particular the covers, are fantastic. There are articles and serialisation of many well-known authors’ works, both fiction and non-fiction. And the advertisements are great, too!

In this issue:
  • Cover Art: Douglas L Mays
  • Short Story: Portrait of Lydia by A. A. Milne - Illustrated by Harold Forster
  • I’ve Cancer - and I cherish every hour by Marjorie Gillespie
  • My Life by Wilfred Pickles - part 2 - I become a shop boy
  • KKK terror still stalks America by Edmund Antrobus - Ku Klux Klan - Lycurgus Spinks
  • Backstage Boss by Lawrence Earl - Harry Brack
  • Short Story: Sweet Chariot by Phyllis Hastings
  • Big-Fight Referee is Crisis-Proof by Stanley Russell - Moss Deyong - Turpin-Cerdan Fight - Boxing
  • Laird of Bird Island by John Niven - George Waterston - Fair Isle
  • Serial Story: Night Without Stars by Winston Graham - Final Part, illustrated by K. J. Petts
  • Back Cover: Guinness Advert

The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 30.5cm by 26cm, with 32 pages

Condition: The magazine is in good vintage condition but is a little tatty showing reading wear and creasing to the covers. Delivery address on the back cover. The paper is fragile. Given that the magazine is over 70 years old, its condition is pretty good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
