Stans S1 version of the legendary fast and light mountain bike wheelset for XC, XC Race, Gravel bikes and recreational use. 29er/700c size only at the moment. 

Rims are Stans Crest S1 made from aluminium alloy. These have a 23mm internal width and suit tyres from 38mm wide gravel type to 2.30" wide MTB type

Disc brake specific. The rim has the same (and best) tubeless BST mounting system as all other Stans rims but is made from a more economical alloy. Designed to used tubeless (with Stans sealant) but can be used equally well with Presta valve tubes. 

Hubs are Shimano Deore and are available with either standard thru axle mounting (15x100 front/12x142 rear,  Boost thru axle mounting (110x15 front/12x148 rear)  or QR (100/135). If you decide to order, we will need to know which type of hub you need.

Suitable for 9,10 and 11 speed Shimano MTB cassettes and specific Shimano GRX 11 speed gravel cassettes (CS-HG700-11 and CS-HG800-11). Also 9 or 10 speed SRAM MTB cassettes. 

For Shimano MTB 12 speed use, there is a variety of Microspline hubs available. Please contact us for details.

Disc brake attachment is by Shimano centrelock fixing although a 6 bolt version with QR axles is also available.

As standard, the 32 spokes per wheel are the high quality black Sapim Race 2.0/1.8/2.0. Made from 100% stainless steel and fastened with solid brass nipples.

The wheels are built using a 3x (3 cross) pattern which is the best compromise between strength without excess weight.

Total wheelset weight for standard thru axle build around 1880g

Sapim D-Light spokes - saves 40-50g + £15 for silver or £35 for black

Sapim CX Ray aero spokes with silver alloy nipples - saves 130g + £100 for silver or £120 for black

Silver Sapim alloy nipples for Race or D-Light spokes (std with CX Ray) - saves 40g - +£10

Coloured alloy spoke nipples (red, orange, green, blue, black, gold, purple) +£18

Fitted Stans yellow rim tape and bolt in valves for tubeless use + £18/pair
