Freywille
is the Vienna company which makes the world's finest fire enamel
jewellery. Every piece is hand-made, with a brass base plated in 24k
gold. The enamel piece is then infused with 24k gold.
Their jewellery is categorized in collections of original designs based on the work of artists.
This
piece is from Freywille's 'Hundertwasser' series, which was retired in
2018.
Friedensreich Hundertwasser was
the famously eccentric Austrian artist, architect and ecological
visionary who created the humus toilet in New Zealand, (the most
photographed toilet in the world), and the famed Vienna apartment
building with undulating floors and built-in live trees. (photos attached.)
Using
his work as inspiration, Freywille created this design, "Spiral of
Life", inspired by the main motif in Hundertwasser's artistic universe:
The Spiral. For him, the spiral was the symbol of life and death, the
act of creation and destruction. Because the spiral, as opposed to the
circle, never returns to its own point of origin.
This
is the Cross pendant, a 1/2" enamel cross surrounded by a black rim and set into a 5/8" gold cross. Colors are red, orange, blue, green, black,
purple and lots of gold. The company stopped making cross pendants in 2016.
I attach a professional Freywille photo of the Spiral of Life half-moon so you can see the colours properly. Note: I have this pendant for sale as well.
It comes with a matching 32" brass-tipped silk cord which ties behind the neck, so you can make it as long or short as you like. You can also use any slim chain you have.
The retail value of the pendant and cord is $950.00
