CANISTER SILVER PLLATE UT PROSIM MOTTO.

“UT PROSIM” is the motto, “That I May Serve”. A beautiful Silver Plate canister with the crest representing Virginia Tech. The crest is made up with (2) lions on either side of a Crown and Shield and underneath them is a ribbon with the swords “UT PROSIM”, which translates to “That I may Serve”. The canister is lidded, (3) three feet and a pineapple (appears to be porcelain) finial. This canister is very beautiful and can be used for any number of uses, let your imagination dictate. Under the canister is the figure of a Griffin, with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered, King of the Beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds. The Griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. There are also marks under the griffin which I was unable to decipher.  There are some places on the canister where the silver plate appears splashy and a little white tinge.  Overall very beautiful and versatile display piece.
