Welcome! This listing is for two vintage Murano vases. -yes, two that match.

These vases were purchased in Tunis, Tunisia North Africa in 1963. Tunisia and Italy face each other across the Mediterranean Sea and so people and goods have gone back and forth for many years.

This vases were new when my mother purchased them. There are no identifying marks and she no longer has the original bill, but the workmanship, colour, depth of colour, aesthetics and design make it identifiable as Murano.

The vases been used and enjoyed in a smoke and pet free home. Mostly they sat on the mantel.

Condition - excellent vintage condition - some scratches on base - no cracks or repairs.

It's difficult to describe the colour so I photographed it on black, white and teal. It looks as if purple and blue were cased in clear glass. The photos are accurate. This glass changes colour in different light.

These handblown vases have different weights. One weighs 1456 grams and the other 1457 grams. They measures 19 cm tall and  30 cm around the outside. The 6 cm  base is flat and polished.

The famous Murano Glass is on the island of Murano, a small island, in the lagoon of Venice, Italy. The art of glassmaking there has more than 1000 years of tradition. The recipes and techniques have been passed from generation to generation. The materials are obtained locally.  Murano glass is not made anywhere else in the world. It is considered to be a luxury gift.
