Overview
35th Anniversary Micro WEBBiT – Special Edition Kit to
celebrate 35 years of Steve Webb Models
The WEBBiT design first appeared in the early 90’s. The
40-inch span kit was designed and manufactured by Peter Kent of the Miniature
Aircraft Factory & Steve Webb Himself. Designed for a 15-size engine it was
intended to be a small field flyer and at 40-inch span the concept took flight.
The WEBBiT even had a solo spot at Sandown 1994, with Paul Heckles hovering it
in front of him, nose vertical on an Enya 15 BB TN. The kit enjoyed a popular
status before the explosion of cheap ARTF kits.
Eventually, the original WEBBiT kit ceased production only
to appear briefly in 2012 with a limited supply run of WEBBiT Mk2 kits.
Appearing to satisfy the mass build demand on the RCME Model Flying Forum. The
kit also raised money for Arthritis Research, with over £700 raised from kit
sales.
The new limited supply run of the Micro WEBBiT 3.0 has been
developed in association with ScaleMeDown. This version of the WEBBiT
celebrates 35 years of Steve Webb Models and takes full advantage of the modern
medium of laser cutting. Taking all the best features from the larger WEBBiT
kits and shrinking them down to work on a micro scale. The Micro WEBBiT 3.0 is
another chapter in the WEBBiT story and a piece of Steve Webb Models history
that you can take home today.
The construction video below by ScaleMeDown is a recommended
view if you wish to build the Micro WEBBiT. The model is not intended for
beginners and is small and fast. We would like to extend our thanks to
ScaleMeDown for making the Micro WEBBiT 3.0 possible
The video is too long to publish on eBay and we are
unable to link direct as it is not allowed on the eBay system
But if you search ''scalemedown WEBBiT 3.0 Laser Cut
Indoor / Garden RC 35th Anniversary Special''
on google you will pull up the construction video. Which is most
excellent.
The Baby WEBBiT is almost as cute as Baby Yoda, but when it
comes to flying it’s not a beginner’s model. Its quick and small and being good
on the sticks helps. While not impossible to fly indoors ( in a large hall – 8 badminton
courts and up) the model is more suitable to outdoor calm day flying. We think it’s
a model that could benefit from AS3X purely because its so small it gets
knocked about by the wind.
