This is a soapstone sculpture of a seal, made by the Inuit artist Timothy Jar (1934-), who is from Coral Harbour/Sallit (aka Salluit) which is right at the top of Quebec, at the edge of Hudson Bay.

It looks more brown in the photos--it is actually moss green shot with dark blue. It is likely from the 1980s.

It is 4 1/2" high, 9" long and 3" thick.
It is signed on the bottom 'Tim Jar'.

It doesn't show up in the photos and it's not noticeable, but there is a tiny chip out of the nose of the seal.
Other than that, it's in perfect condition.
