Pat LaFontaine will be out a minimum of two months after his jaw was fractured in the waning minutes of the Buffalo Sabres' 5-4 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night at the Saddledome.
The injury occurred when Calgary's Jamie Macoun slashed LaFontaine across the mouth area with about 3 1/2 minutes remaining. LaFontaine went to the ice and collapsed along the end boards. When he arose, blood streamed from his mouth. He underwent surgery Saturday night.
