The "Torborg" is a classic Norwegian rowing and sailing boat. This type of ship is widely known in Norway and has been used for many purposes.

The original boat, dating from 1870, is owned by the Stavanger Maritime Museum. This type of boat was used as a pilot ship and was quick and easy to prepare, so that it could be shipped quickly to the waiting ship. There was a great deal of competition between the boats who wanted to drive the ships in the Norwegian fjords. To be competitive, manageable and fast, these boats were equipped with both sails and 2-3 sets of oars.
