Old Antique Expandable Adjustable Brass Dish Cross Hot Plate Trivet/ Plant holder stand. Such a Unique item, a great collectors piece.
Dish crosses were introduced in the 18th century and were used on a side board or table. Sometimes they would have a "lamp" attached to the underside to keep food warm. (see last photo example)
It is solid brass and very sturdy. In nice working condition. Would polish up beautifully.
