[UAAG163] Ukraine 10 hryvnia 300 Centenary Constitution Pylyp Orlyk silver proof coin 2010
Description:
The 10-hryvnia commemorative coin of Ukraine issued in 2010 is dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of the Constitution of hetman-in-exile Pylyp Orlyk. The document was created and proclaimed by him in Bender in 1710. It’s supposed to be the first Ukrainian Constitution and one of kind for its time in general stating the democratic ways and civil rights. The Orlyk’s Constitution was also one of the first constitutions in the modern sense of the word. The piece shows the hetman holding his handwritten Constitution and a pen on its reverse side. The background of Pylyp Orlyk’s effigy is the first page of his document while the subject of the coin is indicated next to him. The obverse bears the image related to the Zaporozhian Cossacks; it shows the group of high rank Cossacks including hetman in front of the crowd of other Zaporozhian people. The legends state the name of the bank and the denomination of the piece as well as the year of producing.
