Here's one you see maybe once in a lifetime. A 1965 Kay (originally distributed under the "Airline" tag) Swingmaster (a Model P-5, we believe) that has been in the possession of our Custom Shop for many years, and modified/customized by Doc Marino as a special undertaking. ****It features the original body and neck (and frets), as well as the original "Bat-Wing" translucent pickguard, and original pickup surrounds. ****The pickups are all reissue Kay "Kleenex-Box" single coils, and the tone variations are remarkable, especially with the added 'Rickenbacker' wiring harness featuring 3 way switching and full tonal blending with their exclusive "blender" knob. The switch on the upper left is currently unwired, but able to be used as an on-off or other special desired purpose. The bridge is a floating style in keeping with the original design, now stationary, with a full Tune-O-Matic top for great tonation adjustment and sustain. ****The color was never offered by Kay, and is the classic "Ric Fireglo" over the flamed maple veneer. The back has been finished in "Imola Orange Pearl" after the obvious addition of the access cover for the electronics..... If you've ever had the displeasure of working on the wiring of any old semi-hollow, you can imagine why Doc added this option. **** The pickups and back cover are copper shielded for added hum balance. ****The tailpiece is a vintage German made Harp and accents the body and the slightly modified F-Hole styling, and the inner edges of the F-Hole have been smoothly finished and sealed/coated with gloss black. The gold top-hat knobs are styled close to the originals, and the tuners are Gibson-Style Kluson Deluxe models, using the original screw holes. The neck sports the original frets, and they are very low-profile, and laser straight.....no loose frets, and LEVEL..... this plays fast, smooth and easy, BUT again, the frets are low-profile. If you need medium or jumbo frets, you'll have to get it re-fretted as desired. ++++The case is a brand new Gator super-plush with a satin shroud/cover....... It comes with a new polishing cloth and an original early 60's Kay Hang-Tag (worth a fortune by itself). *****This is a modified, one-off CUSTOM guitar..... It's an antique/vintage offering, customized by a 50+year experience Luthier for his personal collection...... You're buying it AS-IS, in pictured condition, excellent pro-playability with a low profile fretboard and Ric electronics. There will NEVER be another one offered. Get it or forget it. Flat shipping to the 48 States only (Alaska and Hawaii will be MORE), and ONE DAY HANDLING. Ask your questions or make your offers.......and be SAFE out there.
