French Indo-China 50 Cents dated 1896 with A mint mark. These were minted in France for this colony, which was occupied by Japan during WW2, then liberated by USA and France, then split into South and North Vietnam, fought a civil war, and finally became the Republic it is today. These are made of 0.9000 silver, weigh 13.5000 grams, and contain 0.3906 asw.

I would grade this coin VG. However, the "50 Cent" on the reverse has worn away. This is a scarce coin in any grade.

I have listed other coins and notes from this colony and region.
