Stones wall clock (wood species~Cottonwood) will be a unique addition to
your, or a friend's, home decor. I combine the beauty of a natural wood
slice with my CopperCutts designs, to create a truly one-of-a-kind
clock.
The wood was cut from a dead limb found here on my property in SE Arizona. It was sanded, routed for the clock movement, and varnished (front & back) using multiple coats of polyurethane, with the clock numbers, turquoise stones, and the CopperCutts pieces all sealed right into the final coats. The clock motor is Made in USA, accurate to 30 seconds per month, and runs 2 years or more on 1 AA Battery (INCLUDED). The hanger is already installed...your clock arrives ready to hang. Just flip the switch & set the time!
The CopperCutts designs are inspired by the natural beauty, wildlife, and Native American heritage of Arizona. I use natural copper, contrasted with patinaed copper, laminated to hardwood, to capture the spirit of the Southwest. By using the process described below, the look of expensive solid copper artwork is reproduced in a lightweight and inexpensive form.
The first step is bonding a thin sheet of heat treated copper to 1/8" thick birch plywood. Detailed designs, most including inlays, are then cut by hand using the tiny blades of a scroll saw. The various pieces are separated, and portions of the design are oxidized, to create an aged/mineralized effect. After the acid treating is complete, the inlays are re-installed; then the entire piece is sprayed with multiple coats of clear lacquer. This locks in the colors of both the heat treated and verdigris copper.This clock can be used individually as a center piece in your home or office, or combined with other decorative accessories, such as baskets or dried flowers, to create a stunning Southwestern wall or room. It can also be displayed in protected (from direct sun and rain) outdoor locations, like under a porch.
