HALLMARK KEEPSAKE LIONEL HIAWATHA TENDER ORNAMENT, IN BOX, 2004.  This auction is for a keepsake ornament from Hallmark featuring the Lionel Hiawatha Tender.  The tenders that accompanied the 1939 super-speed Hiawatha streamliners were modified to include partially ribbed sides and the bold Hiawatha paint scheme.  They carried 25 tons of coal and 20,000 gallons of water.  This enabled the 4-6-4 steam engine to generate the increased pulling capacity needed to handle trains of 15 and 16 cars – a substantial improvement over the 4-4-2 engines that powered 6-car trains just a few years earlier.  Although the Milwaukee Road had considered using diesel power for the 1939 Hiawatha, it did not make the switch to diesels for its passenger trains until 1941.  It is made of die-cast metal, dated 2004 and includes the Holiday Memory Card (shows some wear)  It measures a little under 4” long x ¾” wide x 1” high and weighs 2.5 ounces unpackaged.  It is in excellent condition in the original box and can be displayed as a free-standing figurine or as an ornament.  (SEE IMAGES).  Shipping is $3.50 within the U.S. only.  See my other auctions (including other Hallmark Keepsake (Lionel trains, cars, trucks, lunar, planes, etc.), Carlton Card and Christmas ornaments), that can be combined to reduce postage costs. The winning bidder agrees to send payment within 5 days of auction.  Any questions, E-mail me.  Thank you.
