The Step 'N Tilt Lawn Aerator is very effective at alleviating soil compaction problems. Simply step on the platform to insert aerator tines into the ground and tilt the handle bar back to remove the tines from the ground - it's that effortless and easy! The Step 'N Tilt Lawn Aerator is a true core aerator, not a spike aerator. Core aeration is a proven lawn aeration method recommended by lawn experts and university extension services worldwide. Its highly engineered hollow core aerator tines are extremely effective at extracting soil cores while creating 3.5" deep, 0.79" diameter holes in the ground. The sharpen-able, replaceable, and recyclable carbon steel aerator tines are case-hardened for extra durability. The package includes a soil core removal tool. An additional bonus: The Step 'N Tilt Lawn Aerator also functions as a handtruck.  Some assembly is required.

The Step N Tilt Lawn Aerator?s Advantages:
      1. Easier on your shoulders and lower back: Other manual aerators require that you step down on a metal strip and pull the aerator up by both hands.  In order to pull the other manual aerators up, you have to overcome the sticky clay soil in addition to the weight of the aerator. If you have ever tried to pull a shovel vertically up from the ground, you will know how difficult it is to overcome the resistance of sticky clay soil. A typical aeration requires the creation of several hundred holes, so this repetition can become exhausting and back-breaking very quickly.  The Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator makes use of an engineering principle known as ?mechanical advantage? or ?leverage.? A small tilting force applied at the handle bar will translate into a large pulling force at the tines, similar to how a hand-truck enables an operator to carry heavy items effortlessly.  In layman terms, a light tilt of the handle bar is all that is needed to pull the aerator tines up.  The tilting motion is much more natural and effortless than the pulling motion, and you do not have to lift the weight of the aerator.  The wheels allow you to reposition the aerator with ease without lifting the aerator.
      2. Clog-resistant tines: We have spent considerable time and effort to develop the optimal aerator tine design, shape, and material.  We have conducted countless experimental trials utilizing various tine shapes and wall thicknesses to statistically determine the best aerator tine that is least prone to clogging and most effective at cutting through sod.  Each of our steel tines is made to this precise geometry and then case hardened and tempered to improve durability.
      3. One size fits all:  The Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator is designed for use by operators between 4-feet to 6-feet 5-inches tall.  Recommended minimum operator weight to use one set and two sets of tines are 80lbs and 150lbs, respectively.  Two sets of tines may be used in areas with strong grass root and soft soil for faster aeration. One set of tines should be used in areas with bare spots and hard soil.
      4. Replaceable aerator tines: The Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator tines are replaceable.  Our competitor?s aerator tines are not replaceable, meaning the entire aerator must be discarded when the tines are worn or damaged.  Our replacement aerator tines typically cost less than half of our competitor?s aerators, saving you money in the long term.  Note: our aerator tines may be sharpened several times before they need to be replaced.
      5. Larger stepping surface: Other manual aerators require that you step on a narrow metal strip to push the tines into the ground.  The narrow metal strip can be uncomfortable or even painful to step on if you are wearing soft-soled shoes.  To improve operator comfort, we have made the stepping platform much larger than other aerators.
      6. Optional soil core container: The soil core container allows you to collect soil cores during lawn aeration.  Its primary purpose is to improve the ground level or drainage of your yard without killing the grass.  By collecting soil cores from areas that are high and disposing the soil cores to areas that are low, you will gradually improve the ground level or drainage of your lawn over a period of several aeration seasons.  The soil cores may also be disposed in a compost pile or flower beds.
      7. Future accessories: We are developing other accessories such as spike aerator tines, sod plugger tines, and edger that will be compatible with the Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator.
      8. Availability of spare parts: Vibrant Yard Company has been in business since 2002.  We are dedicated to providing support, service, and replacement parts for the Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator for many years to come.
      9. Functions as a handtruck:  As an added bonus, the Step ?N Tilt Lawn Aerator is also a very capable handtruck for moving bags of mulch, fertilizers, top soil, or just about anything around the yard.
