SPODUMENE var. KUNZITE: Urucum Mine (Córrego do Urucum pegmatite), Galiléia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Dimensions: 7.2 x 6.0 x 3.4cm, small cabinet. This is a stunning totally transparent gem quality crystal of Kunzite from the famous 1968 finds at the Urucum Mine in Brazil. As the photos show, it is a gorgeous, saturated magenta-pink color with excellent clarity, luster and form. All of the qualities you would want in a gem crystal of Kunzite! At 197.61 grams and nearly three inches in widest dimension, it is a complete floater, intact all around and looking down the C-axis (second photo) the intense magenta color is at is best, as it usually is with Kunzite. The right side of the crystal has some minor veiled fractures imparting a lighter color in that area. It is a robust and dramatic crystal with impressive color and gemminess...just a classic! Faint striations and tiny geometric etch pits on the surface for added character locally and no damage with only a bit of acceptable minor edge wear in places. Ex.
