RARE

ANTIQUE PROPELLING NOVELTY PENCIL C 1880

This auction is for a fabulous Silver novelty and blue enamel obelisk propelling pencil. Silver outer with gold gilt was on the internal sections, a true sign of quality. The concertina action is smooth and not loose. The suspension loop is marked 800 to indicate 800 parts per 1000 pure silver.

This item is not inscribed with a makers mark but in my opinion a very high quality maker

This pencil has a suspension loop and can be worn on a necklace or Albert chain.

The display box is included in the sale as is the metal tube of period fitted leads.

Material: silver and blue enamel

Condition Report: Good overall condition for its age and type, there are light surface marks, it has one scratch at the part that the pencil provides from as can be seen in picture 7, it has survived very well for 142 years of life. There is some very slight loss to the enamel which can be seen clearly in pictures. I can see no evidence of alteration or repair. I have left the item uncleaned as I have found it. It would polish up to a bright shine if you wanted to. It does have the original pencil nib fitted. It also has the original lead.The pencil lead pusher is in great condition as are both of the mechanisms. This is as good as it get folks, one for the serious collector. This is the pinnacle of novelty pencils.
