This is a Childs Seat that fitted onto an adults bike .
It is a fabulous piece of early Cycling Memorabilia.
The back is stamped DERRETTS Safety Saddle Patent No 573606 .
The Patent Number should read 573606 which refers to a patent applied for 11th November 1943 and published in 1945. Patent application reads, 573,606. Cycle seat supports. DERRETT, J. Nov. 11, 1943.
This registered number dates the piece to the 1940s
The saddle is flexible to give comfort . It appears to be made from an early vulcanised Rubber . There is a lip where the rubber sits and fits it into the metal casing . It is just sat in place there is no adhesive .
It has a back support and the tubular design allows it to be clamped to the frame of the adult bike .
The Seat itself or saddle measures 6.75 x 5.5 x 1.5 inches . The back support measures 6 inches above the top of the Seat .
This is a fabulous piece of early cycling memorabilia and is extremely collectable .
