Collectibles Old Special Baluch Salt Bag, Walnut Bag, Spoon Bag North / West Afghanistan, Hand Knotted, Handwoven with Sumac Technique
The Baluch tribes have their settlement area in northeast Persia and in north / west Afghanistan. They grasp the broad spectrum of their knotted products. In addition to knotted carpets, flat fabrics, bags, animal jewelery and cushions, they also produce salt bags.
The present specimen is a salt bag that originated in northern Afghanistan and was knotted around 1900. Depicted are several raport of geometric patterns, which combine to form a large stepped rhombus. The piece captivates with its bright colors. There are four different colors to choose from: a deep dark gray, a warm pink, brown and a warm glowing antique gold. The braided graduations are mostly completely preserved.
What photos can not show is the exceptionally beautiful feel. We have many years of experience in restoring, refreshing and dyeing our textiles handicrafts by consuming laundry - without chemicals and with extremely low-limp water! The results are visual and phenomenal for touch. Velvet & silk are terms that come closest to describing this quality.
