1947 MUSICAL OPINION MAGAZINE Mendelssohn, William Crotch, Percy Buck, Calcutta

MUSICAL OPINION MAGAZINE
December 1947
No 843, Volume 71

The Musical Opinion magazine has been published continuously since 1877, making it Europe's oldest publication in Classical Music. The magazine offers serious and academic articles on a wide variety of Classical Music topics, covering composers, artists and reviews of different productions of various works. The advertisements are great too!

In this issue:

  • Shakespeare, Mendelssohn and all that by R. W. S. Mendl
  • William Crotch by John Furley-Smith
  • German Opera at Covent Garden - 1833 - by Harry Beard
  • Concerts: Eileen Croxford; Maggie Teyte, Gerald Moore & Alfred Cave; Stefan Askenase; Colin Horsley; Sidney Harrison; Marika Papaioanou
  • The Organ World: An Organ Pilgrimage in Calcutta by Laurence Elvin
  • Obituary: Sir Percy Buck - Harrow School

The magazine measures appr
oximately 29 by 21 cm, and has pages 81 - 120

Condition: Generally in good vintage condition, the pages are fragile and the covers are a bit tatty. There is some creasing to the covers and evidence of reading wear. The covers are darkened and marked at the edges due to age and there is some foxing / brown spotting. Given that the magazine is over 75 years old, its condition is good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you'd like any further information - just ask!
