Throughout the 2002 F-1 season, the WilliamsF1 BMW FW24 put consistent pressure on Ferrari. The BMW P82 engine, the most powerful ever 3.0 liter V10 engine in F-1 history, was mounted on an evolved version of previous year's chassis. The machine demonstrated superior performance on high-speed circuits and brought R. Schumacher to the center podium in the Malaysia GP, and J.P. Montoya to pole positions in 7 races. Montoya got the 3rd place in the drivers' ranking and the Williams team took the 2nd place in the Constructor's Championship.
