These Ponchos are made from a special blend of Yak + Bheda SWool and Polar Fleece.  The material contained in each shawl is Hand loomed in Nepal or India in designs generated from tribal family patterns. The yarn used in this piece appears to be a predominate blend of Yak Wool together with Sheep + Polar Fleece. We are uncertain at this time as to the percentages of Yak wool to the other material blends. Polar Fleece adds to the beauty, strength, softness and durability of the Poncho while the Yak Wool adds to its ultra warmth and softness.

The sizing of the handmade Ponchos varies; for larger sizes the sleeve will hang at mid-way between the elbow to possibly the wrist and for smaller sizes will hang at the wrist or above to the knees.  The front and rear V shape of the Poncho will hang somewhere between the mid-thigh to the knee depending on your size and height.  The following measurements may help you in selecting the Poncho that fits your sizing.

Himalayan Yak Wool: The New Cashmere [The Guardian: December 2010]

Yak is an animal that lives high in Himalayan Mountains and is accustomed extremely low temperatures. The down layer of the Yak wool is soft, which is next to the skin, is brushed out each spring that is then made into yarn for weaving. It is soft like the high altitude goats that give us cashmere and keeps you very warm. Yaks live at a staggering 13,000 to 16,500 ft. above sea level.
