ITEM DESCRIPTION
This is a pin badge issued by the International school for Peace Studies and is for it's FRIENDS OF MESSINES. Messines / Mesen in Belgium, was the site of a number of major battles during World War One (WW1). During one of these battles the 16th Irish Division and the 36th Ulster Division fought side by side for the first time during the Great War. Up until this point it was felt that these two divisions could not be placed together due to the political upheaval back in Ireland. Both divisions were formed from private armies that had been gathered to fight a potential Civil War in Ireland over Home Rule or separation from Britain. Casualties in WW! were so high that these two divisions were placed side by side at Messines Ridge and fought well together with some evidence of reconciliation. The Friends of Messines seek to learn from the past and to continue such reconciliation acts back in modern day Ireland / Northern Ireland.
The badge is new and still in its original packaging with a display card. This is a nice collectable badge with Northern Ireland interest.

POSTAGE / COMBINED POSTAGE
Items will be posted within 1 to 3 days of cleared payment. Badges are posted in padded envelopes to protect the badge, and items will be posted using ordinary mail unless buyers request tracked or signed for delivery.
Postage can be combined for multiple wins for similar items such as banknotes only / coins only / badges only. Combined postage cannot be used for mixed items such as coins and banknotes together as this can cause damage to banknotes etc. If in doubt please just ask.
Postage costs include secure packaging and handling. Items are posted as large letters as they contain badge or badges and 1st class delivery in the UK for badges is £1.90. International postage for badges to Europe is £4.00 and International postage to the rest of the world is £5.00.
The buyer is liable for any additional customs or other charges .
