These seeds are for Drosera Capensis typical (narrow leaf) Red form that produces pink-purple Flowers.


Drosera Capensis is one of the easiest sundews to start and grow from seed.

-Seeds are package in a wax paper packet, then placed in a small baggie, and shipped in a padded envelope.

General plant info

-Plants are originally from South Africa

-Strap like leaves that are mostly green with red or pink tentacles depending on the variety.

-Mature plants can grow to 5 -7 inches tall and wide.

-Leaves can fold and move around prey.

-No dormancy required to thrive longterm.

-Red form has a small pink flower and the pink form has small white flower.

-Flowers readily seed and seeds germinate very easily, and can quickly becoming a weed in some gardens.


Light

-Full to part sun for best color, with at least 4+ hours of direct sunlight.

-Can grow on a sunny bright windowsill

-Under grow lights for 10-16 hours


Water

Always recommended to water with rain, distilled, or reverse osmosis. Soft water with 50ppm or less is ok to use.

-Keep soil wet at all times, easiest to sit pot in a dish or tray with water 1/4 to 2 inches high.


Temperatures

-Protect from frost, or plant will die to soil level and should regrow from the roots and or stem in the spring as long as the soil is kept wet at all times.


Sowing seeds

-Easy to germinate with a high success rate, seeds germinate in 3 to 6 weeks.

-Sow on top of wet carnivorous soil, use equal parts of peat:perlite or peat:sand or on wet long fiber sphagnum moss.

-Place in a bright location or under grow lights.

-Temperatures between 60-80 degrees will increase germination time and success rate.

-Some people like cover the container or pot with plastic food wrap or in a bag, to help maintain high humidity and to keep fungus larvae from eating seedlings roots.
