Final Destination, or Ultimate Destination in Quebec (Final Destination), is an American horror film directed by James Wong, released in 2000.

The screenplay was written by James Wong himself but also by Jeffrey Reddick and Glen Morgan, based on a story by Reddick. It features actors Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Seann William Scott, Kristen Cloke, Amanda Detmer, Chad Donella and Tony Todd among others. The story follows the horrific adventures of a young student leaving for Paris with his class who has a vision of his plane crashing during takeoff. He saves his friends from certain death by disembarking them from the plane when it really explodes. While they have just escaped their destiny, death itself will decide to take back what was due to it.

Synopsis

Alex Browning, a 17-year-old American high school student, boards a Boeing 747 with his classmates for their trip to Paris. Before takeoff, he has a nightmare in which the plane explodes in midair, killing all of its passengers. Alex wakes up and understands that he has just had a premonitory vision. When the events of his vision begin to occur in reality, he decides to alert the crew and to encourage the passengers to leave the plane, but a fight breaks out between Alex and his rival, Carter Horton. As a result, Alex, Carter, Tod Waggner, Alex's best friend Terry Chaney, Carter's girlfriend, teacher Valerie Lewton, and students Billy Hitchcock and Claire Rivers are kicked off the device. None of the passengers, except for Claire, believe Alex about her vision until the plane explodes on takeoff, killing all passengers on board. Afterwards, the group is questioned by two FBI agents, who believe Alex had something to do with the explosion.
