History  1876 Cape Cod Collection by Avon.  The number "1876" come from the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence being signed, and the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial.

The designs originated from the 1825 company, Boston & Sandwich Glass Works which operated in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

The Avon 1876 Cape Cod Glass Collection drew its inspiration from the Roman Rosette classical pattern.

The deep ruby red glass was produced by the Wheaton Glass Company for Avon from 1975-1992.  Red glass takes a high percentage of gold to produce, adding to its value.

Reminiscent of early American pressed glass called "Sandwich Glass".  It featured lacy, intricate designs, fine background stippling, and exquisite brilliance which reflected the suburb craftsmanship of its making

Status:  Discontinued, no longer in production.  Produced:  1975-1992, with the last pieces available from AVON in 1995.
