1860's style woman's white lace day caps.  The caps are available in  three designs: long lappets, short lappets and self-fabric or lace trimmed. I have identified the caps by their design and the color of the ribbons. The cap you see is the cap you will receive.  If you like a cap but would prefer another color of ribbon I would be happy to change it (if I have the color you need, I have lots of options available). All of the caps are new and each is one of a kind.

Such caps were worn by married women, often as a sign of motherhood, never worn by young girls. They are made with a drawstring in the back to form a bag to contain the hair. The face is framed by lace trimmed lappets, lace or lace bands, which are decorated with detachable ribbons, which can be easily changed to suit your dress.

Older ladies often favored such caps to cover a thinning hair line, modern ladies can cover short hair cuts with the caps of denser lace. Caps were worn indoors during the day but also could be worn outdoors under a bonnet. To be correct the hair should be "dressed" and not loose in the bonnet.

The caps are washable, I recommend removing the ribbons before washing.

Note: If you prefer a different color ribbon decoration, please let me know. I am happy to match your dress or accessories (if I have the color you need, I have lots of options available).

Please let me know what number cap you would like me to send.

                                                                      Ruffled

#5:  Floral pattern lace, the face is framed by 1 1/2" wide scalloped lace with a flower wreath design, the back of the cap is edged with narrow ruffled picot edged lace. The band is made of white satin ribbon edged on each side with the same narrow picot edged lace. Lace rosettes with a tiny white satin ribbon rose bud are decorated with four swallowtail white satin ribbons.

#6: Interesting lace with circle designs centered with open faced flowers and extended rectangles forms the bag of the cap.  The cap is edged with narrow ruffled picot edge lace. The band is formed by two rows of wide ruffled lace with a center beading area which is run with pale lavender satin ribbon. Each side of the cap is decorated with a lace rosette with a center decoration of a simple bow of lavender satin ribbon, and "silk-look" lavender rayon gimp flower which is set with tiny lavender seed beads. The ribbon and decorations are held in place with a small safety pin so that they can be easily removed and replaced with a different color to match your outfit.
