This burgee represents the American Yacht Club founded in 1883 & located in Rye, New York distinguished by a long history of competitive racing and leadership in growing the sport among women and junior sailors.


Included; Burgee with brass grommets lashed with natural twine to upper wood standard with solid brass hardware to secure lower solid wood standard in sliding assembly. Standards have been disassembled for shipping with brass hardware still screwed into wood.


Burgee material appears to be synthetic fully embroidered along edges between color changes and ‘cotton’ at edge with brass grommets. 9 1/2in x 16in. Cotton edge shows original warn label of fabricator.

Upper and lower wood standards are of a ‘hardwood’ treated with a exterior grade type of sealant. Upper 1/2in dia. X 22in length & lower 5/8in dia. X 36in length. Solid brass hardware is loosely screwed by hand into wood edge to prevent splitting- same care should be taken to reassemble these elements.
