Theatre Arts Monthly was a monthly American publication that ran from 1916 to 1964. Broad in scope and handsomely designed, the publication contained in-depth coverage of every aspect of the theatre-world, and these vintage magazines offer today’s readers a permanent record of American dramatic art in its formative period, introducing dramatic trends and events, and to the emergence of new and important dramatists, directors, playwrights and stage designers of the time. There are also articles on the emerging movie scene and drama in Europe, South America and Russia. Not to mention the wonderful advertisements!

In this issue:
  • New York Goes Native - Broadway in Review by John Mason Brown
  • The Little Man from Skien - Henrik Ibsen by Montrose J Moses
  • The Twilight of the Gods - By Their Beards Ye Shall Know Them by Dixon M Morton
  • The Anatomy of a Sylph - Concerning the Beauty of Marie Taglioni by André Levinson
  • A Retrospective Eye on Ibsen
  • Play Translation by Ashely Dukes

Pictures include:
  • Henrik Ibsen
  • Eugene O’Neill’s Marco Millions with Margalo Gillmore
  • Dudley Digges
  • Sean O’Casey from a painting by Augustus John

Condition: The covers are very fragile and show damage to the edges and spine, the staples have rusted making the pages loose. However, given that this magazine is around 90 years old, its condition isn’t too bad and all pages are fully legible!

I accept returns and any questions - just ask!
