Theatre Arts Monthly was a monthly American publication that ran from 1916 to 1964. Broad in scope and handsomely designed, the publication contained in-depth coverage of every aspect of the theatre-world, and these vintage magazines offer today’s readers a permanent record of American dramatic art in its formative period, introducing dramatic trends and events, and to the emergence of new and important dramatists, directors, playwrights and stage designers of the time. There are also articles on the emerging movie scene and drama in Europe, South America and Russia. Not to mention the wonderful advertisements!

In this issue:
  • Greece to Broadway - Broadway in Review by John Hutchens
  • The English Scene by Ashley Dukes
  • Sisera by Edwin Arlington Robinson
  • The Bad Heart Buffalo Manuscript by Hartley Alexander
  • My Castanets by Argentina
  • The Polish Theatre by Frederick Burleigh
  • Elmer Rice by Meyer Levin
  • Electra - In The Modern Dress of 1558 by E.P. Jacobi
  • I Look At The Audience by Sybil Thorndike

Pictures include:
  • Martha Graham
  • Lynn Fontanne in Renunion in Vienna
  • Ilse Marvenga
  • Norman Bel Geddes - Hamlet - Scenes

Condition: The covers are very fragile and show damage to the edges and spine, the staples have rusted making the pages loose, THERE’S ALSO SOME VINTAGE WATER STAINING TO THE PAGES. However, given that this magazine is around 90 years old, its condition isn’t too bad and all pages are fully legible!

I accept returns and any questions - just ask!
