Theatre Arts Monthly was a monthly American publication that ran from 1916 to 1964. Broad in scope and handsomely designed, the publication contained in-depth coverage of every aspect of the theatre-world, and these vintage magazines offer today’s readers a permanent record of American dramatic art in its formative period, introducing dramatic trends and events, and to the emergence of new and important dramatists, directors, playwrights and stage designers of the time. There are also articles on the emerging movie scene and drama in Europe, South America and Russia. Not to mention the wonderful advertisements!

In this issue:
  • The Theatre and Industrial Democracy by A.M. Drummond
  • A Stage Manager’s Log by Norris Houghton
  • The One-Act Play in English Repertories by E Martin Browne
  • The Little Professional Theatre by Ashley Dukes
  • State Theatre on Tour by Caryl Nance - Washington State Theatre - Theatre of Youth
  • Tributary Theatre Inventory - A Memorandum of Weakness by Edwin Duerr
  • Marionette Manipulation by Ralph Chesse
  • Producing New Scripts by Virgil L Baker
  • The Outdoor Setting by George R Kernodle
  • Directing Amateurs
  • College and Community

Pictures include:
  • A.M. Drummond
  • Washington State Theatre

Condition: The covers are rather fragile and show minor damage to the edges and spine, the staples have rusted, some vintage water staining. However, given that this magazine is around 80 years old, its condition is pretty good and all pages are fully legible!

I accept returns and any questions - just ask!
