It is hemmed and ready to be embroidered. It measures 16 inches wide, 28 inches long. In my mom's generation, in the 1950s and 1960s, embroidery and sewing skills were paramount. Young ladies were expected to display their home-making skills. Housewives customarily used patterns decorate their linens and textiles, as well as sew dresses and quilts. These are good examples of the types of linens that were purchased so the mistress of the home could spend her evenings sewing for her family.
