This pair of stamps honors WWII veterans from the beginning of the war until their honorable discharge after the wars end.

The #905 Win the War stamp was issued on the anniversary of American Independence in order to bolster American support for the war effort.

The #940 Honorable Discharge stamp honors all those who served in WWII and pictures the Honorable Discharge emblem.  The five stars surrounding the emblem honor those who died in each of the five services - Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, and Merchant Marines.  Issued May 9, 1946 by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

It is a fitting tribute that these two stamps be displayed together.
