The silicon fragments are a byproduct of the production of silicon components. Silicon with 3N purity is very suitable for alloying with aluminum.

Together with our ingots and granules made of pure aluminum, you can produce the common aluminum casting alloy AlSi12, for example. This contains 88% aluminum and 12% silicon. It is characterized by very good castability. We also have a similar cast aluminum alloy in our range in a handy form.

For decorative purposes we recommend the fragments made of 6N silicon. These are a little darker and sharper-edged. Even if you need high purity for further processing, the use of 6N silicon is recommended.

Please also note that small amounts of SiO2 (quartz glass) can adhere to the 3N silicon. However, this is not a problem when alloying.
