This is a genuine original theater made Special Forces unit pocket patch of the 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) stationed on Okinawa, Japan. The patch is approx 3 inches in diameter and is the official symbol of the 1st Battalion, 1st SF Group.   A relatively small number of these patches were made back in 1988. The patch has an Okinawan Torii (gate) with the motto "First in Asia". Behind the Torii is a large numeral 1 for 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). Also displayed on the patch are green crossed arrows and the upturned dagger, symbols of Special Forces. Around the outside edge of the patch is: 1st Bn 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) 1st Special Forces. The background color is Asian gold which is the same color in the First SF Group beret flash. Patch was made in the Philippines at a shop (near Clark Air Base) that was destroyed during the Mount Pinatubo eruption in June 1991.  This patch came directly from the unit. This patch is well illustrated in Harry Pugh's excellent book, U.S. Special Forces Shoulder and Pocket Insignia on pages 58 and 59. Proof of the origin of this patch can also be provided upon request.  In addition you will also get an official metal foil seal with the Battalion symbol and a paper decal/sticker shown in the photos.
