This is a large capacity
continuous cooling mercury recovery retort, designed to purify your mercury
while separating it from your gold.
The water chamber is 9
long, 4" tall and 2" wide with a 1/2" output port and a
1/2" input port .
The water chamber stands
on 4" tall legs.
The vapor head is
1-1/2" wide by 1" deep and will hold a piece of amalgam about the
size of a large lime.
This retort is designed
to operate with water circulating continuously through the water chamber.
This prevents the water in the chamber from overheating and retort
becoming vapor locked.
These retorts are
designed to take a beating, they are made out of 1/8" thick mild steel,
and all parts are welded.
All units are leak
tested before they are painted with a rust resistant paint.
We have a five year warranty on all welds. If the welding on the retort fails, we will repair or replace the retort with a new one. You pay shipping one way.
This retort may be
operated using the single fill or continuous cooling method.
Single fill method:
Lay the retort on it's
side, fill the cooling chamber with water by removing one end of the plastic
tube, replace tube after filling with water.
Stand upright and load the vapor chamber.
Continuous cooling
method:
Configure the retort to circulate water continuously through the cooling chamber by using a submersible pump, and two 4' x 1/2" ID vinyl tubing, hose clamps attach to the 1/2" supply and return tubes on the side of the retort, use a 5 gal bucket of water for better cooling and faster condensation during the mercury vaporization process.
Box Contents:
1ea) continuous cooling retort
1ea 12" x 1/2" ID vinyl tube.
A complete set of instruction will be included in the box with the retort.
Instructions for use.
Work in an open well
ventilated area with a breeze at your back when operating the retort.
Have fire extinguisher at hand.
Caution! DO NOT
PUT THE PLASTIC TUBE IN THE WATER OF THE MERCURY RECOVERY CONTAINER during
operation or cool down.
Attach the Pump
discharge to one of the 1/2' tubes on the side of the retort, attach the other
hose to the remaining tube and then place the pump and tube end into a 5 gal
bucket full of water or ice water. Start the pump.
Wrap and tie the mercury
vapor filter (piece of cotton material) around the plastic tube to discharge
the mercury into the water in the
recovery container to
prevent mercury vapor escaping in the event your water becomes too hot during
the distillation process.
Add your amalgam to the
vaporizing chamber, seal with mud or product of your choice.
Heat vaporizer cap to
cherry red, maintain until mercury stops dripping out the discharge tube.
Allow cap to cool before
opening chamber. After chamber is cool to the touch, remove mercury
recovery container to a safe place for storage.
Leave a small amount of
water to cover mercury during storage.
Detach hoses from retort
and empty water from cooling chamber, then move retort to a small plastic tub
to prevent any mercury from spilling on the floor while processing.
Recover your gold, then
reseal chamber with cap to prevent any trapped mercury from spilling.
