I’m offering today one of my beautiful and oh so sweet vinyl baby dolls the 1950's era.  She is all vinyl with "squishy" limbs and body.  Her body is one unit which has a flat bum for her to sit and pose nicely.  She is a substantial doll and is in really good condition in my opinion.

This doll to me, looks like the American Character "Toodles" baby doll which was a fixture of the 20th century for many little girls to love and enjoy.  These type of dolls were produced in 1958, which inspired other doll companies to produce the same type of dolls.  This doll is not hallmarked, so I don't know if it could be an American Character doll or not.  Some dolls from this era had hang tags and just didn't mark some of their dolls.  I just can't definitively state who made her.

I will start at the top of the doll and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has brown molded hair with curls which are pronounced and wavy.  There are paint rub marks on the brown paint, which is quite normal for a doll of this age.  I created this adorable hair band out of white  stretch elastic which is decorated with large baby blue satin ribbon bow.  The large bow is attached to the elastic hair band which allows it to sit upright on the dolls head.  Since she does have a molded head, it sometimes will slip off, so you have to find the tightest area and place the hair band there.  As you go down her face, she has single brown line for eyebrows.  She has adorable green open/close sleep eyes with long eyelashes which have been spared from the hands of her previous little mommies.  Her eyes open and close freely and have such a precious look to them.  She has a dainty little nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her rosebud shape lips.  Her lips are painted a bright red color which go so well with her face coloring.  Her cheeks have wonderful coloring and look very nice.

As I mentioned above, she is all vinyl including her head, arms, legs and torso.  Her legs are attached to the body with bendable vinyl for posing.  She has a flat style bum which allows her to sit upright nicely for posing.  She can also stand if you prop her up against something.  Her body is clean and free of odors.  They had various sizes of this doll from that era.

Now to her adorable outfit I chose for her.  She is wearing a vintage baby blue cotton "Vogue Doll" dress from the 1960's era.  The dress has a high collar, which I added elastic to since the old elastic was worn out.  The collar is trimmed with white lace which frames her adorable round shape face beautifully.  As you go around to the back side of the dress, there are two hidden metal snaps to keep the dress in place.  I did have to do some repairs to the dress, but as you can see, you don't notice that.  I try very hard to repair these old vintage clothes without knowing it has been done.  The dress has long sleeves which come down to her elbows.  The sleeves are trimmed off with the same white lace that is around the collar.  I made a baby blue satin bows with streamers which go down the front of the dress and I then added a pink satin rosette to the center of the bows.  Going down the center of the dress are two rows of white lace which have beautiful hand embroidered pink flowers at the hemline.  The dress is fully lined with white cotton fabric and trimmed with the same flat lace that decorates the front of the dress.  Under the adorable vintage dress, she is wearing a very full baby blue tulle tutu for added fullness to the dress.  Under the tutu, she is wearing white cotton panties.  I had these white booties made for her and added wide baby blue satin ribbon with large bows on top of each booty.  They look so sweet on her and match her vintage dress perfectly.

All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.   Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.

SIZE:

This precious baby doll is large in size measuring approximately 19" tall.

CONDITION:

I really don't have anything negative to say about this doll.  I personally feel she is in good condition because I don't find anything significantly wrong with her.  She has rub marks on the brown paint of her head, which as I stated above is quite normal for a doll this age.  Her face and lips have beautiful coloring.  Her body is clean and free of smells.  Her clothing is Vintage and has been repaired in some small areas.  I did launder the dress and panties to remove any bacteria or dirt from the years.  The tutu is new and looks oh so cute.  You will love this doll when you set your eyes upon her.  Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
