Atq Late 1800s Grim Woman Portrait Photo In Convex Glass Oval Wood Frame 25 x 19.

Nice portrait capture of a woman in the late 1800s, grim expression and all. I see alot of humanity in this face. Details are written on the back of the frame: "Nancy Ann Collier Rodney. Born Ga. Died Texas, 1912".

This style and methodolgy of photography and framing was popular in the late 1800s. The photo image is on a rather thin paper and placed behind concurved glass giving the piece dimension. The frame is wood, as seen from the back, but is coated with gesso, presumably to add contour and perhaps accept paint better. There are dings in the finish that exposes the white gesso underneath as seen in the last photo.

Measures 24 3/4" x 18 3/4".
