Description

Presenting an antique mini brass apothecary mortar and pestle dating to the early 1900s for your consideration.

This very desirable mortar & pestle would have been used during the late Victorian era to crush pills and tablets. Both the mortar and pestle have been cast using high quality brass. The mortal has then been lathe turned to further refine the piece.

The mortar measures approximately 5.4cm in diameter at the rim and stands 5.7cm in height. The pestle measures 9.2cm in length. Unpackaged weight of 163 grams.

Presented in very good condition. There are a few dings and nicks as you would expect of a used antique piece. Some wear to the ends of the pestle. Isolated areas of verdigris, particularly around the handles. This piece has been carefully washed. I have not polished the piece in any way to retain patina.

Displays exceptionally well for a piece that is over 100 years of age.

Will make an excellent addition to any science or medical collection.
