Victorian Era Fashion Book

This magazine was very popular with the women of 1859. Women would use the pictures of this magazine for inspiration on designing their clothes of the Victorian Era.

This book comes from the personal library of Hellen A Hipple, the wife of George Hipple.  Mr. Hipple was a prominent manufacturer of Clinton County, Pa and did business in the city of Lock Haven. He was into the lumber business.

This book / magazines has some hand colored fashion plates and also pictures and patterns for crocheting or embroidery.  It also contains stories and literature written for the women of 1859.

Antique book with wear appropriate to it's old age and use.  Note: the former owner's name label is engraved with her name and attached to the front cover.  Covers exhibit wear and rubbing to edges, corners, and near spine and surface.  Binding is fair.  No loose pages.  First end paper has a pen notation of a date, 2023.  Pages are clean and unmarked and exhibit foxing / tanning from it's antique age.
