Up for sale, a 1997 ESP Custom Shop Ron Wood signature model in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. One of ESP’s most enduring and popular artist signature models, the Ron Wood model has been produced for more than three decades, evoking a hot-rodded Telecaster Custom. This iteration of the Rolling Stones legend’s signature was crafted in Japan at the ESP Custom Shop, featuring a neck position humbucker and single coil bridge pickup, with a six-saddle bridge and 22 fret maple fretboard with a modern 9 1/2" radius.

Tonewoods include an alder body and maple neck, and the pickups comprise an TS120R single coil pickup in the bridge position and LH-200 humbucker at the neck. The bridge pickup delivers quintessential Tele twang and snap, and the LH-200 humbucker offers a great counterpoint, with a full, throaty sound. This Ron Wood model weighs 8lbs 6oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a modestly slender U-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .925” at the 12th. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2“ radius, and the slender fretwire is in fantastic shape, only exhibiting a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the first couple frets. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 42mm (1.650") in width. The angular headstock sports Wood’s signature, with an ESP Custom Guitars logo on the back, and the Kluson-style single line Gotoh Deluxe tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The five-digit serial and ESP logo are embossed into the four-bolt neck plate, and the serial dates this guitar to ‘97.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The wiring harness includes Noble pots and untouched solder joints. The chrome-plated control plate, dome-topped knurled knobs, and six-saddle bridge are notably clean, and plastics include the three-ply white pickguard and '50s-style switch tip.

The gloss Black finish is framed on the front and back by cream binding, evoking a 1960s Telecaster Custom. Cosmetic wear is limited to some very light buckle wear on the back, plus just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole, also largely relegated to the back. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is pristine.

The original ESP-branded black tolex hardshell case is included.
