This exceptionally crafted book—has been exceptionally bound in a beautiful fine binding of full brown leather with five raised bands on the spine, full-gilded edges, gilded text, tooled decorative gilding on the leather interior of the book, gilt-bordered marbled paste downs and high-quality paper stock. Printed by Richard Clay and Sons, London. 6” x4 1/4”, 346 pp (including index).

CONDITION - This exquisitely crafted book is in NEAR FINE condition.

The spine is square and strong, binding, hinges and joints are tight. Only light rubbing to boards, a few spots of light soiling, two small cracks forming along bottom of spine joints. Page end gilding is shiny and looks brand new - quite stunning. The pages are clean and undamaged, straight and unbent pages with no ex-libris marks or stamps. A faded antique gift inscription on the half-title page dated 1889, the year after the book’s publication, adds to its charm. No foxing, just gently age-toned pages.
